Warm sunshine and consecutive years of drought delivered tiny berries packed with flavor. Built around a structured core of hillside and mountain fruit, our head winemaker, Eric Hansen, superbly blended the powerful tannins of the mountain grapes with the ripened fruit characteristics of the valley floor.
Our 2014 Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon was handcrafted Bordeaux style following the same process as our 90-point 2013 Cabernet. We made this wine a little bolder than our 2013 vintage using 91% Napa Cabernet, 4% Merlot, 3% Petit Verdot and 2% Cabernet Franc. The result is another great wine ready to drink now that will soften over the next 3-5 years.
Located in the heart of Stags Leap District on Silverado Trail, Clos du Val is synonymous with Stags Leap Cabernet. Our fruit is sourced from the same block as the famous CdV Stags Leap Bottling. Director of Vineyard Operations, Al Wagner, has been meticulously farming these blocks for 14 vintages and keeps yields low by dropping and thinning to balance the structure and fruit of the wine.
Bright Angel was started in the hopes of producing a wine from an iconic vineyard and we found the one in our second year. This is opulence in a bottle…complimented by black fruits, chocolate and dried herbs leading to a finish anchored by fully integrated silky tannins.
AWARDED GOLD AND BEST SONOMA COUNTY CHARDONNAY AT THE 2016 NEW YORK INTERNATIONAL WINE COMPETITION!
Several factors combine to make Sangiacomo Roberts Road Vineyard one of the best Chardonnay sites in northern California: well drained soils, clonal diversity, and the climate.
Coastal influence shines through our Sangiacomo Roberts Road Chardonnay with great fruit and acid balance. The moderate climate of the 2014 growing season produced small clusters and low yields for concentrated flavors and length. A combination of new, once-used and neutral french oak barrels were used during fermentation. The wine displays light tropical fruit, ripe apple and pear finishing with great structure, richness and just the right finish.
AWARDED SILVER AT THE NEW YORK INTERNATIONAL WINE COMPETITION
First planted in 1998 to Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, Sangiacomo Roberts Road is located at the base of the Sonoma Mountain bordered on the northern edge of Copeland Creek and consists of 14 different clone and rootstock combinations.
Pinot Noir grapes from the Roberts Road Vineyard are among the most prestigious the Sangiacomo family cultivates. Fermentation occurred in late September 2014, followed by barreling in a combination of new and neutral french oak barrels. Our Bright Angel Pinot Noir expresses garden herbs, red cherry and currant, cranberry, black tea and black plumbs with great structure and richness in the fruit.
